Lines: lead, guide, create movement
Life Application: Most people have energy levels that rise and fall throughout the days, months, and years. Many times we push through what our bodies tell us and create additional challenges. Looking at the movements in nature can help us consider natural movements for ourselves, depending on our current energy levels or the energy we want to create. With some experimenting, you'll be able to better decide if you want to honor the mood you're in or shake yourself out of your current state and create something different. Read on to get ideas about movements for your emotional needs.

For balance, calm, stability: try using a balance ball, standing on one leg, walking slowly, riding a bike, stretching, or resting.
For confidence, empowerment, decisiveness: try the "power pose," strength training, lifting, cleaning, rearranging furniture. For an energy boost or tension relief: try jogging on stairs, hiking vigorously, dancing, high intensity interval training. For comfort and connection: try breathing, swimming, meditating, slow dancing, walking with friends, or snuggling. |
Photo Application: Take a few minutes to tune into your subject's movement and compose your images using lines and shapes that honor their unique essence.
