Saturday, January 31 at 1:28 p.m.; 17 degrees feels like 27 due to bright sun & mild winds.

I arrive both exhausted and thankful for friendship, laughter, and milder weather. Upon arrival at the trail entry, I notice deer tracks in the snow that are aligned with familiar bike tracks. Following these tracks allows me to walk through the snow in my tennis shoes. Sunlight filtered through pine branches and pine needles standing upright in the snow give me pause.

I sit at the bench nearest a pine tree and pine cone ridges peeking through drifts remind me of flying over mountain peaks rising above cloud cover. ​

Savanna Springs provides both the comfort of home and the delight of a mini adventure. I breath a sigh of relief. ​
