The Preserve
Present to Beauty's The Preserve is a creative project that arose out of a desire to build a relationship with SE Minnesota's Bluff Country.
|
The Preserve project is about developing a long-term relationship with a specific place. The trails and ecosystems become creative partners.
Reciprocity is practiced through care and restraint. This is not an accumulation of adventures, but an exchange of attention. Across seasons and transitions, this focus restores steadiness. Presence outweighs productivity and creativity follows nature’s rhythms. Depth-of-seeing matters more than surface-level perfection. Return and ritual shape the work, and sustained practice becomes belonging. The Preserve is a place of creative continuity rooted in a love of nature. |
If you want to help the preserve photo project grow, donations via Venmo are an option for patronage.
The Preserve projects are intended to be quiet, place-based noticing experiences that encourage:

Present Perspective: Hearing Spring
|
During this spring season, the work here is about subtle awakening, quiet exploration, and noticing beginnings.
With the turning of the seasons at the Spring Equinox, there comes a quiet invitation to emerge from stillness with intention. The Lost Creek Hiking Trail offers an opportunity for attending to Spring's awakenings in Bluff Country. Notice nature's transitions. Look for the first unfurling of a leaf. Feel the renewed energy of evening light. Listen for the returning bird songs. These small awakenings remind us that Spring’s promise is revealed through a gradual unfolding. |
Participate in the Lost Creek Preserve
If you’ve walked the trail and noticed something that stayed with you - a shift in light, a pattern, a detail - you are invited to share. Contributions slowly form a collaborative photographic archive of the Lost Creek Hiking Trail, emphasizing collective voice, stewardship, and connection to place.
Submission forms include a brief reflection and an option to upload an image. Perfect, polished contributions are not required. Simple, specific, and sincere is enough. Each submission is gently reviewed and, if selected, becomes part of the archive, an evolving record of presence, perception, and relationship with Lost Creek.
Not everything will be included, but everything offered is appreciated.
