Thirds: three equal parts; mind.body.spirit
Life Application: the myth of "work/life balance" puts us on a see-saw of ups and downs and puts our desires and responsibilities in constant competition for time and energy, creating further exhaustion.
Try a more holistic mind, body, spirit approach and spend time nurturing all three whether you're working; caring for children; spending time with friends, families, and/or partners; doing chores; or making art. See "Simplicity" here for ideas on what nurturing your spiritual, physical, intellectual, relational, and emotional life looks like in photography and apply those ideas to your other desires and responsibilities. |
Photo Application: attend to the mind, body, spirit of your image and give each third space. Sometimes that will mean dividing your frame into thirds. Sometimes that will mean noticing a color triad. Sometimes that will mean combining three textures. Sometimes that will mean creating something that will only make sense to you.

Photo Experiments:
-place your subject in the left third -place your subject in the right third -place your subject directly in the center -place your subject in the top third -place your subject in the bottom third Read about my framework for "The Rule of Thirds" and see examples of "Thirds" on the blog by clicking here. |
